Therapeutic Activity Support Volunteer (Lynfield Mount Hospital, Bradford)

As a Therapeutic Activity Support Volunteer, you will assist staff in implementing a variety of therapeutic, physical, and recreational activities for patients who use the hospital's therapeutic space, The Four Seasons Cafe. Tailored to a diverse range on interests and abilities, these are aimed to motivate patients to engage in meaningful activities, adding structure to the day and improving general wellbeing. Staff will be present in The Four Seasons Cafe during the activities.

Before applying, we ask that volunteers consider their availability within the next few months- our opportunities are not short-term and recruitment checks can take around 2-3 months to complete.

These recruitment checks include DBS check, references, right to work and online training. You will also need attend a face-to-face Welcome Workshop, Breakaway training and an Infection Prevention session.

Key responsibilities

Support clinical team in planning and delivering meaningful 1:1 and group activities that support service users’ health and wellbeing. Identify activities that cater to diverse interests and abilities. Engage with service users and provide reassuring company. Encourage service users’ participation in activity sessions and support them to take part. Help with preparing and restoring the activity space Communicate with Therapeutic Volunteer Coordinator and Occupational Therapy team to understand individual service users’ needs and preferences To feedback to the ward team following activity sessions
