As a Volunteer you will support the Occupational Therapy team to facilitate weekly therapeutic groups on the ward. You will share hair, beauty and pampering skills with service users such as hand massage, hair styling, henna applying make-up and painting nails.

This role is based at Airedale Centre for Mental Health and you will have regular contact with service users within an inpatient environment. We are looking for someone who can give a minimum of 1-2 hours per week on a week day.

You will have regular contact with service users in hospital. 

Before applying, we ask that volunteers consider their availability within the next few months- our opportunities are not short-term and recruitment checks can take around 2-3 months to complete.

These recruitment checks include DBS check, references, right to work and online training. You will also need attend a face-to-face Welcome Workshop, Breakaway training and an Infection Prevention session.

Key responsibilities

Share hair, beauty and pampering skills with service users such as such as hand massage hair styling, applying make-up and painting nails. Engage with service users and support them to take part in the group To assist with preparing and restoring the group room To participate in designated tasks that facilitate the running of the group To liaise with the nursing and Occupational Therapy team about individual service users.
