Why do you want it changed?
When I first joined the university, there was a table tennis table in the Richmond Building that attracted significant engagement, with students regularly gathered to play.
As Richmond is the only campus building open 24/7, reinstating a table here makes practical sense. It allows students—particularly those residing in campus accommodation—to incorporate recreation around their revision and study routines.
Currently, anyone seeking to play outside of standard library hours (or wishing to avoid travelling across to the library) is limited to facilities at The Flow (formerly iQ student accommodation). However, access there requires residency and is restricted to a single table.
How would you change it?
There are currently at least four table tennis tables within Student Central, with at least two typically unoccupied at any given time. Peak usage rarely exceeds two tables simultaneously.
I propose relocating just one unused table to the Richmond Building to provide extended, convenient access during late hours.
It is not essential for bats and balls to be supplied on
What do you want changed?
I would like for a table tennis table to be placed in the richmond building where the lunch tables are placed, there is a lot of space for this to happen as the tables are very far apart and can be arranged properly to accommodate for this change.
Why do you want it changed?
When I first joined the university, we had a table tennis table at the richmond building where it gained a lot of interest and always had people around it to play, considering that richmond is the only building that is open 24/7 this makes a lot of sense and would allow students, especially ones living in accommodation to work around their revision and work schedules to enjoy playing table tennis. Currently, if anyone wants to play table tennis outside the library opening times or does not want to go as far to the library they would have the flow students (previously known as iq student accommodation ) to play, the problem with this is that you must be a resident and they are limited to just one table.
4.How would you change it?
There are currently at least 4 table tennis tables at the student unions building, with at least 2 of them not in use all the time. There are never more than 2 table tennis tables open and or in use at the same time. For this reason I propose that just one table is relocated to the richmond building to allow students to play at late times and to make it easier for them to get there for this. There does not have to be bats and balls available at the location as I am aware these may get lost or stolen, students such as myself and others whom I know have their personal ones. If the committee would like to supply these then these could even be kept at the information office by the first entrance, though this is not necessary
