  • Support community sessions and events that raise awareness of hate crime and how to report it. You’ll help create safe spaces for conversations, assist with workshops, and engage with diverse communities. This role helps build confidence, communication skills, and an understanding of equality and inclusion.

     

    Volunteers will support awareness campaigns, workshops, and community outreach activities across Bradford. Tasks may include helping set up sessions, welcoming participants, sharing information resources, and supporting event delivery.

    You’ll gain practical experience in community engagement, teamwork, public speaking, and safeguarding awareness. This is a good fit if you’re interested in social justice, community work, or building people skills.

You will lead one-to-one sessions, supporting your mentee with academic skills, social and emotional development, and future thinking. You will also attend group events with other mentoring pairs and celebrate your achievements at our annual Mentoring Celebration. Mentoring meetings are one hour and pairs meet every two weeks throughout the academic year. Volunteering opportunities takes place Monday-Fridays, 3-6 pm.

    IntoUniversity Bradford East are looking for passionate individuals who want to maker a difference in the lives of young people, whilst also being able to develop skills for their own future.

    Who can apply?

    If you are a current university student or have graduated from any degree within the past five years, this opportunity could be for you!

    What does the role involve? 

    You will be paired with a young person aged between 10-17 years. You will lead one-to-one sessions, supporting your mentee with academic skills, social and emotional development, and future thinking. You will also attend group events with other mentoring pairs and celebrate your achievements at our annual Mentoring Celebration. 

    How often will I volunteer? 

    Mentoring meetings are one hour and pairs meet every two weeks throughout the academic year. Volunteering opportunities takes place Monday-Fridays, 3-6 pm

    How do I start volunteering?

    • Attend a training and selection session to prepare you for working with young people, including in-depth safeguarding training 
    • If selected to be a mentor, you will be matched with an IntoUniversity centre in your local area  
    • You will be invited to an induction at your centre to meet your team 
    • This role requires an Enhanced DBS with Child Barred List check (England) or PVG Child check (Scotland). IntoUniversity covers this cost and will support you with the application process

    The mentoring sessions will take place in person at our centre in Holme Wood, BD4 9DY.
