University of Bradford Bangladesh Society is a student-led community that brings together students with an interest in Bangladesh, its culture, heritage, traditions and community. Whether you are Bangladeshi, have a connection to Bangladesh, or simply want to meet new people and experience Bengali culture, everyone is welcome.
Our aim is to create a friendly, inclusive and active community where students can connect, celebrate and belong. Throughout the academic year, we organise a variety of social, cultural, sporting and outdoor activities, giving students opportunities to make friends, experience new things and create lasting memories alongside their studies.
As part of the University of Bradford's wider student community, the society works alongside UBU and other student societies to create opportunities for collaboration and participation. Societies are an important part of student life at Bradford, providing opportunities to meet people, develop skills, network and get involved beyond the classroom.
What we do
Our activities are designed to offer something for everyone, including:
- 🎉 Social events – meet new people, make friends and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere.
- 🎬 Entertainment – movie nights, parties and other social activities.
- ⚽ Sport – football tournaments and other sporting activities.
- 🥾 Outdoor activities – hikes and trips, including collaborations with other University of Bradford societies.
- 🍛 Food and cultural events – opportunities to experience and celebrate Bangladeshi food, traditions and culture.
- 🇧🇩 National and cultural celebrations – celebrating important occasions in Bangladesh's history and heritage.
- 🤝 Society collaborations – working with other societies to bring students from different backgrounds together.
📅 Semester 1 Events 2026/27
We have an exciting programme planned for Semester 1:
Thursday 1 October – Meet & Greet
Start the academic year by meeting the Bangladesh Society committee and fellow students, making new friends and getting to know the society.
Thursday 15 October – House Party
A social evening filled with music, entertainment, good company and plenty of opportunities to meet other students.
Thursday 29 October – Football Tournament ⚽
Bring your team, show off your football skills and compete in a friendly tournament.
Sunday 15 November – Ingleborough Hike 🥾
An outdoor adventure organised in collaboration with the Hiking Society, giving members the chance to explore the Yorkshire countryside while meeting students from another society.
Thursday 26 November – Movie Night 🎬
A relaxed evening with friends, snacks and a great film.
Wednesday 16 December – Victory Day Celebration 🇧🇩
A special event commemorating Bangladesh's Victory Day, celebrating the country's history, culture, heritage and national identity through an evening of community and celebration.

You do not need to be Bangladeshi to join the Bangladesh Society. We welcome students from all backgrounds who are interested in meeting new people, experiencing Bangladeshi culture and taking part in our events.
Whether you are looking for a new group of friends, want to explore Bengali culture, enjoy social and sporting activities, or simply want to get involved in university life, we would love to have you with us.

📍 Find us at the Freshers' Fair
Come and meet the Bangladesh Society committee at the Freshers' Fair on Wednesday 16 September at Student Central. We'd love to welcome new students, introduce you to the society and tell you more about the events and activities planned for the year.
Student Central is home to UBU and plays an important role in student life at the University of Bradford.
