The African Caribbean Achievement Project (ACAP) is a grassroots charity rooted in Bradford since 1995. We began by tackling the inequalities faced by Black children in education, and over the years we’ve grown into a vibrant organisation that drives change, celebrates culture, and empowers our community.
At ACAP, no two days are the same. We run health and wellbeing projects, mentoring and advocacy, women’s health programmes, outdoor activities, STEM workshops, employment and IT training, creative arts initiatives and so much more! Our work uplifts and amplifies African and Caribbean voices, while building opportunities that make a lasting difference.
Volunteering with us means more than just giving your time, it’s a chance to connect with community, build skills, and be part of something meaningful. Whether you’re interested in events, social media, youth mentoring, creative projects, or community outreach, there’s a place for you at ACAP.
Join us in challenging inequalities, shaping futures, and making Bradford a better place for all.

We are the only environmental charity dedicated to improving the rivers and becks that flow through the Aire valley.
Flowing from Malham to the River Ouse at Airmyn, the River Aire runs through an enormously varied landscape. Our river brings creatures like kingfishers, otters, a wide range of fish including Atlantic salmon into the heart of the cities of Leeds and Bradford.
A curlew flying from Malham to Airmyn would travel a mere 58 miles but it takes the river over 90 miles to wind its way through the 228 square miles of the valley through which it flows.Along the River Aire you will find shallow upland and hidden city becks, streams full of life.
Volunteer with us to discover our great river. Our work helps reduce flooding, clear up litter and create new space for nature. Volunteering offers a huge range of rewards. Swap the rush of everyday life for the calmness of being by water. Meet new people or learn new skills.
We run practical conservation sessions on Thursdays or Fridays nearly all year round.
Other volunteer opportunities are seasonal, like Community Outreach, or done in your own time on a regular basis, like River Monitors.

We believe that nobody in Bradford should go hungry. We help anyone in Bradford who finds themselves unable to feed their families due to a crisis or emergency need. We give emergency food parcels with long-life food, as well as extra items away including bread, fresh vegetables, toiletries and sanitary products. We also provide a hot meal to everyone who comes in.
We feed over 17,000 people in Bradford a year. The cost of living crisis means that food donations has dropped off but the demand for food support has increased. This is why we need your support more than ever.
We also help people deal with the root cause of the crisis by providing benefits advise, job coaching, family legal advice, DWP Job Centre advisors, housing support, and asylum seeker face to face support during our sessions. We provide a taxi and delivery service for those who are too ill to collect their parcels.
Everyone is referred into our Foodbank via organisations working closely with people, so everybody that comes needs a foodbank voucher.

Forget Me Not Children's Hospice
Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice supports local families facing or living with the loss of their child. No family should have to face the loss of their child alone.
Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice supports local families facing or living with the loss of their child.
No family should have to face the loss of their child alone. That’s why we not only provide expert clinical care and therapy, but also a helping hand, listening ear and a place for families to be together to make the most of every moment. We start with what each family needs, offering them tailored support and we’re always looking for pioneering new ways to support children and families. In doing so, we make a difference that lasts a lifetime.
As a charity, of the £6.5 million we need this year, we must raise 80% ourselves. So we rely on local people, groups and businesses to help, by fundraising, volunteering, taking part in events, visiting our shops, playing our lottery or leaving a gift in their will. Every penny you raise helps children and families get the vital support they need.
There are many ways people can get involved in supporting the hospice with the different events. Our Colour Run and Dragon Boat Race are some of Forget Me Not’s biggest events, families leave tributes in wills and in memory fundraising, we have a lottery and many other initiatives that people can get involved in.
For more information on how you can get involved visit our website www.forgetmenotchild.co.uk or email fundraising@forgetmenotchild.co.uk.
Thank you for your support.

Horton Community Farm
A vibrant green oasis in the city filled with fruit, veg & wildlife. Activities that bring the community together around nature & food growing. Featuring an orchard, play area, pond & willow dome.
In 2009, we started with 2 acres of fly-tipped, abandoned allotments littered with destroyed sheds and greenhouses in a deprived inner-city area of Bradford. Today, Horton Community Farm is a green sanctuary on the doorstep of thousands of people. It has grown from a group of volunteers into a not-for-profit cooperative run by 4 paid directors. Read more about our history, here.
We help to bring the community together by connecting people with nature and each other. Our free programmes of activities are aimed at sanctuary seekers, families with 0-5’s, people in pregnancy and people wishing to improve their mental health.
Our work is creating an inspirational permaculture centre for food growing and community resilience through 5 main strands: environmental education such as forest schools, horticultural therapy, wildlife, food growing and volunteering.
Slowly but surely, we’ve developed a range of features including a therapy garden, wildlife area, orchard, compost toilet, cabins for storage and a special play area with a willow dome, clambering boulders, sandpit, mud kitchen and erectable shelter for when the weather requires it.
We are proud to be based at Cecil Avenue allotments where, as well as regenerating our third of the site, we have also ensured the other two-thirds remains accessible as allotments.
Horton Community Farm is an official permaculture LAND centre.
For our work with asylum seekers and refugees we are recognised as a Garden of Sanctuary.
We are registered as a limited company and operate as a not-for-profit social enterprise meaning any profit we generate is invested back into the project.

The Imran Khan Cancer Appeal (IKCA) is a charitable organisation established to support cancer care, research and treatment, especially for individuals and families who lack the financial means to access such services. It operates internationally, with registered charity status in the United Kingdom (Charity Commission No. 1000580)
The organisation was inspired by Imran Khan, former international cricketer and public figure, following the death of his mother from cancer in the mid-1980s. Motivated by the lack of accessible care for those without resources, he spearheaded a major fundraising effort that culminated in the opening of the first SKMCH&RC hospital in Lahore in 1994. Since then, the network has expanded with additional centres — including Peshawar and the ongoing development of a larger facility in Karachi — all supported through sustained fundraising and community engagement
