Your Guide to What's Happening at UBU This Week!
|
|
Happy Monday {firstname}.
It's December, time to put up the Christmas decorations and start the countdown to 2026 but more importantly, it's Graduation Week!
On Tuesday and Wednesday, you'll see proud mums and dads walking round linking arms with grinning gowned guys as they do their final act of their student life, sitting in a big room waiting for people to stop talking so they can go on stage and get the piece of paper that will change their lives.
If your friend is graduating then you'll really want to watch them and you've probably considered sneaking into the ceremony. However, it's highly unlikely you'll be able to sneak into the Great Hall to support your friend as our security guards have a certificate and are well trained to spot Ceremony Sneakers (or Cersneaks as they call them) and they'll pounce on you like a cat with a mouse and give you a good telling off.
To prevent such a situation from occurring you can watch the ceremonies on the University YouTube, which you can stream from HERE!
There are a lot of things going on too, get to the Pantomime, take one of our last Edinburgh tickets and more, see below.

The Calder Valley is only 20 mins from Bradford on the Train and it has stunning scenery.

With Take a Hike, you'll be supporting local young people with disabilities, where you'll make amazing friendships and share adventures.
In the summer we'll be heading to the Isle of Man, if we can get the funding secured, but to come on that, you need to come on the walks.

Team Bradford Spirit of Sport Scholarship - Apply Now for one of five £1500 scholarships
The Team Bradford Spirit of Sport Scholarship provides vital support to students who are committed to university sport but face challenges in pursuing a life-changing degree.
Sport has an extraordinary ability to break down barriers, forge lifelong friendships, and foster a deep sense of community. This scholarship celebrates that connection, enabling students to grow, learn, and thrive — both on and off the field.
It is open to aspiring athletes as well as the dedicated organisers and enthusiastic participants whose passion, drive, and leadership are essential to the success of university sport.
The scholarship has been established by the Football Club Old Boys, a long-standing group of University of Bradford alumni united by their love of sport and the camaraderie built during and since their time at the University. For almost fifty years, this group — now 150 strong — has met annually, cherishing the friendships and opportunities that sport has given them.
As their legacy to Bradford, they have founded this scholarship to empower future generations to succeed and to experience the lifelong benefits of sporting endeavours and friendships. It is also a heartfelt tribute to those of their number who are no longer with us — teammates and friends who played a pivotal role in shaping this unique community.
To promote equality, where possible, at least 2 of the scholarships will be to female applicants.

Team of the Week - Men's Football 1
BUFC are our Team of the Week after beating Hull by penalties at home on Wednesday after the game finished tied at 2-2.
The boys were up for it after seeing Hull's social media post slating our beautiful City of Culture before kick off so the stakes were high for this third round tie that would see the winners progress into the quarter finals.
The game started as a tight affair with both sides finding their rhythm. Hull took the lead through a penalty following a scramble inside of the Bradford penalty box but the lead wasn't held for long. Bradford were awarded a penalty which was coolly taken by winger Mohamed Ejlaouhry, bringing the game back to all square.
Hull were knocking on the door with a few good chances before Bradford took the lead for the first time in the game following a stunning free kick from captain Ross Pearson that has been likened to Roberto Carlos' free kick against France in 1997.
Bradford were 2-1 up at the break and the second half saw both teams have chances, a goal for Bradford now would to put the game to bed.
Midway through the second half, Hull found their equaliser and the deadlock couldn't be broken with the game finishing 2-2.
A penalty shoot out was on the cards, BUFC's third of the tournament. Bradford ran out victorious on penalties with a score of 3-2, yet again goalkeeper Tom Ranson making a save in the shoot out, that now means he has saved at least one penalty in each shoot out this season.
Bradford now face Liverpool away in the Quarter Finals of the Cup on February 11, a win here would see a semi-final home tie against Greater Manchester or Edge Hill later that month.
It's a long way back to Hull when you've lost.
If you are an aspiring footballer and want to be part of this amazing cup run, get your membership HERE! for £94 and includes all training, game time and travel to away games.
