Description

Welcome to the University of Bradford Water Polo Club! Also known as Bradford Barracudas, we're one of the friendliest clubs on campus and cater for all abilities, ranging from ex-national players right down to beginners who have never played before. ALL ABILITIES ARE WELCOME into our mixed club (although a basic level of swimming aptitude is required) so whether you’re male or female, there are no trials, if you want to play, you’ll play! Training is three times a week at Unique’s swimming pool on campus where we develop skills, fitness, and match day tactics.

Throughout the year we play in BUCS leagues and tornaments, Varsity and friendlies giving everyone a chance to experience playing against some of the best players in the country!

In recent years we’ve had an extremely successful competitive club and have won the prestigious ‘UBU Team of the Year Award’ 3 times in the last 10 years, also topping the BUCS and UPolo leagues on numerous occasions! Our fantastic results are due to the “work hard - play hard” ethos that permeates the club. After 3 long years, in the 2019-20 season we finally restablished our Women's team, who had great success in the pool and won "UBU's Most Improved Team of the Year" award 2020!

Bradford Barracudas also offers a great social experience with post match socials as well as socials every Wednesday, which are shared with the Swimming Club. We also organise events and trips throughout the year. Drinkers and non-drinkers are welcomed equally! We attend the annual UBU Colours Ball as well as having a big Christmas and End of Year socials. There is also a chance to go on tour every year to Spain, Italy or Croatia.

In summary: No pads, No helmets, No protection... just men (and women) with balls!

We will be at Freshers Fayre 2022 and will be holding 'Give it a Go' sessions in September.  We will hopefully see you soon, but if you have any questions or want to get involved with the club, you can get in contact with us on social media and our group emails. See you in September!
