Description

Welcome to Islamic Ahlulbayt Society!

“A person is either your brother in faith or your equal in humanity” Imam Ali (as)

The Ahlulbayt Society (Absoc) is a student-led organisation that aims to unite people regardless of their social or ethnic backgrounds. we aim to promote and raise awareness of the true teachings of Islam that was transmitted through the Quran, The Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH) and his purified progeny Ahlulbayt (AS). "Ahlulbayt" refers to the household of the last Islamic Prophet, Muhammed (PBUH). Our aim is to provide our members and the wider community with a framework for understanding Islam and its philosophy which encompasses every aspect of our lives from sociology, politics and economics, to ecology, psychology and spirituality.

“And hold together to the rope of Allah and do not disunite” Quran 3:103

Weekly discussion circles allow us to discuss topics on politics, religion, philosophy and much more, creating a space to voice your opinions. This year we seek to hold events to explore Islam through the path of the Ahlulbayt (as). We welcome everyone, all religions and no religion and we aim to dialogue and exchange ideas freely as well as learn and socialise. We will be holding many socials, controversial talks with renowned lecturers and famous speakers as well as thought provoking discussions on topics relevant to us as students today.

A famous tradition of the “Two Weighty Things” from Prophet Muhammad (pbuh):

I leave among you two precious things; if you hold onto them, you will not go astray after me: the Book of God (Holy Quran), which is like a rope extended between the heaven and the Earth, and my Household (Ahlulbayt). These two things will not separate from each other until they reach me near the fountain on the Day of Judgement. Be alert and careful how you treat them after me. – Sahih Muslim (Vol.8, p.25, no.2408)
