WELCOME TO ACS BRADFORD!
The Bradford African Caribbean Society (ACS), is a place dedicated to celebrating and engaging African Caribbean culture at the University of Bradford & beyond!
The aim of this group is to promote, celebrate and raise awareness of African Caribbean culture. This society aims to create a community that supports a sustainable transition to university life for all members. This transition will involve the personal, social, and academic growth of each member.
ACS Bradford will strive to:
1. promote integration and inclusion for all members.
2. empower, educate and connect all members through the ACS society.
3. cater to and respect the values of all members regardless of background.
4. facilitate a healthy social life utilising events and activities that keep the community connected and contribute to the growth of every member.
5. create networks of connections with organisations and within the community that promote career development and academic excellence.
With our main aim being the celebration of diversity and empowerment, ACS strives to offer support and a networking platform for our members; whether it be support transitioning to university life or helping students adjust and enjoy their time at university through our events; we promise a family oriented environment where you are listened to and always put first.
While the name of the society can be misleading, this society is not exclusive to just those with an African/Caribbean background, we welcome all university students therefore we appreciate people from all backgrounds joining our society.
Throughout the year, all of our members will have a discounts on our lively events, inspirational talks and much more. We hope together we can create a healthy learning environment for both you and us and we hope that far from home, we become your sanctuary in the uncertain world that is university life.

Memberships paid to UBU are non-refundable by default. Members of UBU are subject to the Code of Conduct, and memberships may be revoked by Executives, Committees, Assemblies or Council in the case of breach of the Code of Conduct or other terms and conditions.
Memberships to Activity Groups and Sport Clubs are available to all current UoB students. Availability for UBU Associate members is on the discretion of the respective Governing body. For more information, please contact ubu@bradford.ac.uk
If you take part in the Governance processes of a Club or Group, then the membership fee will not be refunded. If you wish to be removed as a member of a club or group after you’ve joined, please email ubu@bradford.ac.uk.
Activity group membership :
£1 of each membership goes to the Activities Development Fund which is overseen by the Activities Committee and goes to support any Activity Group. The rest of the fee goes to the Activity group you are joining.
These are non-refundable unless approved by the Executive Team of the Activity Group which you have joined. The Executive Team can refuse refund requests, and you can contact UBU Activities if you are unhappy with their decision.
UBU Sport membership:
£1 of each membership goes to the Sports Development Fund which is overseen by the Sports Committee, and goes to support any Sports Club. The rest of the fee is used to cover the running cost of sports. These are non-refundable unless approved by the Sports Committee and UBU Sports Department.
Joint sports membership refunds:
50% goes to UBU Sport and follows the above conditions. 50% goes to Unique for the Fitness offer, and follows their terms and conditions.
