UBU Afghan society aims to bring together Afghan and non-Afghan students to educate them on the culture and diversity of Afghanistan. We would like to celebrate our heritage, food and tradition by setting up this society and we hope to give students an alternative view of Afghanistan that is rarely discussed in mainstream media, giving students a safe place to express their individuality and allowing them to make friends.
We would like to host many social and cultural events throughout the year such as meet and greets, music evenings, games nights and poetry nights. We would also like to promote awareness about the various issues surrounding Afghanistan and aim to try to work with charities to allow us to make a greater difference. We are looking to organise more events for members in the future so continuously ask students to contribute their ideas and thoughts on what they would like to see.
We are a fun way to socialise for ALL students from different backgrounds so if you are interested or would like to know more about Afghan culture and heritage, then make sure to sign up and come along.
