The BME Attainment Gap is Real

*** Due to the impact of last week's snow days and the strikes this week, we thought it would only be best to reschedule. A decision has also been made to just hold one large session, inviting staff and students across the University to share thoughts, ideas and solutions. This will take place on Friday 23rd March, 14:30-16:30 in Norcroft Auditorium. ***

Time to speak up, listen up and close the gap.

Help us help you to achieve your full potential.

Why does the gap exist? Curriculum? Role models? Teaching and assessment method? Unconscious bias? Support network?

In our institution, the achievement gap between BME and non-BME students obtaining at least a 2:1 is 12% points. This contradicts the fact that many ethic minority students outperform their counterparts at GCSE nationally. With 67.2% of students at the University of Bradford coming from a BME background, it is time we all work together to tackle the attainment gap.
