Coffee House Session with Tom Pointer

Tom Pointer is an exciting new 24 year-old singer from Southampton, with a voice that will make you sit up and take notice.

Growing up with a DJ father in a house full of music, he was introduced to the giants of seventies rock (Led Zeppelin, Van Morrison etc) at an early age. Tom was instantly hooked and dedicated himself to mastering the guitar. It was not long after that he ended up paying his dues playing bass in a couple of questionable metal bands with his older brother.

In his teens Tom moved away from his family home to live in London (signing for London Wasps rugby club). This was an amazing experience as he was exposed to the music, fashion, art and culture of the big city for the first time.

Whilst studying for a Fine Art and Sports Science degree at Loughborough University, high achiever Tom broke his back playing rugby. In the long days of recovery following surgery Tom once again picked up the guitar, eventually throwing himself into his music full-time. Tom went from strength to strength, both medically and musically, deciding to perform his raw and personal music at London’s open mic scene.

Not long after moving back to London, Tom met Devlin’s producer Lewi White who responded so enthusiastically the pair began writing and working together.

As Tom grows as a singer/songwriter, taking influence from artists such as Alabama Shakes, James Bay and D’Angelo, one thing is clear: this is a talent everyone needs to know about.
