Black History Month - Hull Trip Oct 9

Home of tall ships and sailing folklore, Hull, Capital of Culture 2017, is a port city on the East Coast of England and is a major transport and goods harbour. With a thriving arts, music and dining scene Hull has a lot going for it, including boasting to have the smallest window in England, and home to many weirdly designed public toilets.

Hull, being on the East coast, was a minor player in the transatlantic slave trade yet is associated with the slave trade, primarily through William Wilberforce, the local MP who led the parliamentary campaign against the slave trade and then against slavery itself.

The Wilberforce House museum (if open) will provide an interesting diversion and you will be free to explore this city rich in maritime history at your leisure.

Home of the Deep, a sea life museum, and the docklands, Hull is the place to sample fish and chips, fresh from the sea or stow away on a ship to shores unknown.
