Street Angels welcomes volunteers of all and any orientation and background. All we ask is that you complete a simple application form and are age 18 plus, and have bags of enthusiasm. We offer on the job training, with experienced duty managers.
Street Angels operate on Friday nights, usually from 8pm to 2am. We patrol in groups of three or four. Our route takes in the West End, Kirkgate and Bradford Interchange.
Volunteering is a great addition to your CV and will help many students with their studies, including medical related degrees. It’s fantastic experience if you are thinking of working with the police or ambulance service too!
We can:
In our first six months, violent crime in the city centre fell by 22%, with a 60% reduction in robberies and an 80% reduction in common assault.
Bradford Street Angels Street Angels was set up by the city centre churches in 2007, and we welcome all volunteers from any background or orientation. We work with the police, ambulance service, pubs, clubs and CCTV to ensure that your evening is as safe and fun as it can be. You may have seen us in Bradford City Centre on a Friday night in our high vis jackets! We patrol in groups of at least three, always including at least one man and one woman. Each patrol is in contact with the CCTV and police. We look out for vulnerable youngsters or adults, give support, help, directions and a reassuring presence, engaging with members of the public, including the homeless community.
It's a good way to keep fit too! A number of members count steps and we usually cover 6-8 miles a night.

Our route takes in the West End, up to the Richmond building, Centenary Square, North Parade, Sunbridge Wells, Kirkgate and Bradford Interchange.
We have had very few incidents in which Street Angels have felt threatened. Usually we are in far more ‘danger’ of being hugged than attacked!
We are based in Bradford's City Hall and patrol in areas covered by CCTV from 8pm up to 2am on a Friday night (with a break for hot chocolate!). It's great fun as well as being very rewarding.
We very much welcome student volunteers. You can develop many skills as a volunteer, including inter-personal skills, team work, communication and active listening skills.
