Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for providing hospital services for the people of Bradford and communities across Yorkshire. We serve a core population of around 500,000 people and provide specialist services for some 1.1 million.
Our 5,500 staff work over several sites, including Bradford Royal Infirmary, which provides the majority of inpatient services, and St Luke’s Hospital, which predominantly provides outpatient and rehabilitation services. We also manage local community hospitals at Eccleshill, Westwood Park, Westbourne Green, and Shipley.
Voluntary Services at Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust are excited to offer a range of volunteering roles, providing rewarding opportunities for people from all backgrounds across a wide age range. Our volunteers are part of the team here at Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust and are extremely valuable, making a real difference to the experience of people who access our services, their carers and families. The various skills, knowledge and experience volunteers bring, makes a real difference to our trust services, complementing the work of our paid staff.
We welcome applications from a wide audience, to reflect the diversity of our communities and acknowledge the various reasons why people want to volunteer with us.
You may have specific skills and experience you would like to share to support other people across our services. Alternatively, maybe you’d like to gain skills and experience in the NHS, giving you an insight into our various career opportunities. Or you may simply want to give something back to the NHS and make a real difference to the experience of our patients.
Radio Royal is the hospital radio for Bradford Royal Infirmary, based within their own studios at BRI.
Radio Royal is a Charity and is entirely run by volunteers, who give a few hours a week, either presenting or producing, providing music and information to listeners across BRI.
We are requiring more people to help us run the Radio, whether that be presenting or assisting a show, or helping with the technical and engineering functions behind the scenes.
Radio Royal play a variety of music, played to suit a wide age range of listeners and it is important to always remember Radio Royal are representing an NHS organisation, conversing, dealing with and being observed by patients, visitors and staff members. Professional, respectable and sensible behaviour must be displayed at all times.
Whilst Radio Royal have their own specific training in place, as an NHS volunteer it is mandatory to follow all Trust volunteer recruitment and induction policies to be able to volunteer within Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This will be provided by the Voluntary Services Team.
A professional approach should be maintained at all times. Political opinion and bad language are not permitted.
As Radio Royal is a Charity, as a volunteer we ask that you support any fundraising activities which take place, to ensure Radio Royal continues to be funded and remains financially secure.
If you would like more information, please contact Radio Royals Chair George Sumner.
