Oxfam is a global movement of millions of people who share the belief that, in a world rich in resources, poverty isn't inevitable. In just 15 years, extreme poverty has been halved. 15 more years and we can end it for good.
Oxfam's Bradford Darley Street Shop is currently looking for SHOP VOLUNTEERS to help us to support Oxfam’s fight to support the world’s most vulnerable communities during the current global pandemic.
We’re looking for volunteers who can give 4-8 hours (or more!) of their time in the shop each week!
We’re excited to welcome brand new volunteers!
Location: Oxfam Bradford, 56/58 Darley Street, Bradford, BD1 3HN
Opening hours: Monday – Saturday 9am-5pm
Become a volunteer!
We have volunteer roles for people who would like to work on the till, meeting and greeting customers and donors. We also need people who would like to work behind the scenes, sorting donations and pricing items! Right now, we looking for additional support on weekday mornings.
If you've an interest in clothing and fashion, we have plenty of volunteering opportunities from Monday through Friday!
We also need people who would like to work behind the scenes, sorting and pricing donations for sale and supporting our Online Shop - photographing and listing items for sale! If you can give some time between Monday & Friday, please get in touch!
We’re also looking for volunteers who’d like to take on more responsibility as a Volunteer Shift Leader. You would be running the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager. You will be involved in opening and/or closing the shop, cashing up and banking. Full training will be provided - however you will need to be over 18 for this position.
If you’ve an interest in Social Media, we could use some help developing our online presence!
Why be a volunteer?
Your time will make a huge difference; for example, we estimate one four-hour shift will on average provide enough income to enable Oxfam to provide life-saving handwashing facilities for 81 people.
Benefits of becoming a Volunteer:
• Gain genuine experience working in a retail environment.
• Enhance your CV and skills.
• Great way to meet new people.
• Be part of a fantastic team and make a positive change to the world.
• Opportunity to utilise and develop your transferable skills.
No experience is necessary as full training and an induction will be given. You don't need to be computer literate to join our team; there are volunteer opportunities for all. All we ask is that you’re happy to work as part of a diverse and inclusive team.
We can be very flexible around parenting, caring, health, employment, education, and any other commitments you have.
