  • To be completely fluent in both English and one of the following Eastern European languages Slovak, Russian, Latvian, Polish, Romanian and Czech (non-exhaustive)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • An ability to actively listen to clients and give a full account of what has been said in the specified language
  • Highly motivated, committed, and enthusiastic
  • An ability to understand and empathise with client’s situations
  • Have a clear speaking voice and be confident interpreting large amounts of information
  • Have excellent concentration and the ability to think quickly
  • Demonstrate the ability to build strong professional relationships
  • Good attention to detail and time management skills
  • Demonstrate commitment to the aims and ethos of the SVP, its policies and procedures and the effective delivery of services
  • Comply with health and safety policies and procedures and ensure responsibility for own safety and that of others
  • Ability to give and receive feedback objectively and sensitively with a willingness to challenge constructively
  • Ability to monitor and maintain own standards

Key responsibilities

• Interpret spoken language to enable our advisors to gain information needed from the client in order to help with any debt, benefit or housing issues • To ensure that meaning and context is portrayed accurately in the interpretation and that confidentiality is adhered to at all times • To deliver triage assessment and advice at first contact to streamline client access to information, self-help or advice services quickly, efficiently and at an appropriate level
