This year the coffee shop hours in the Union Mall has been reduced to close at 4pm. The coffee shop is an integral part of this student space. It provides a meeting area for students on route to societies and activities and provides a gathering area which is welcoming and friendly. In addition to this many students myself included would go there after lectures to purchase hot food as many lectures would go on past dinner/lunch hours and many of the other food establishments have stopped serving.

Where’s the money going to come from?
In the previous 2 years, Costa used to get a lot of sales (especially for their shawarma sandwiches) between 4 -6 pm, so one would think that they could at least stay open and trade profitably for at least another 2 hours.
