My commitment is to amplify student voices through empowering them to be involved in important decision making forums at the University. As chair of council, I aim on facilitating conversations between the Union and the University to provide more volunteering and career building opportunities for students, which will help them not only academically, but also in their professional lives. I hope to utilise and support the democracy through my role as chair of council to make impactful and meaningful changes in the union for the betterment of students. As chair of council, I would also utilise my presence at the University senate to ensure student issues and voices are heard on a larger scale, and I will work collaboratively with the sabbatical officers to amplify the voices of the council members and also the University students. In my opinion as a psychology student, a very important aspect of student experience is the facilities provided by the university regarding counselling and overall well-being. I plan on working with the University and UBU to help advertise the current counselling services provided by the university and also collecting feedback regarding how it can be improved and what other services students would like to see in terms of their overall well-being. Another area of focus for me will be to facilitate the growth of existing extracurricular activities provided by the Union, and also to help expand and create new societies, clubs, etc., to ensure a more diverse array of extracurricular activities for students with different interests. I hope to achieve collaborative and effective dialogues in Council, that lead to significant and tangible outcomes that will help improve students’ academic journey and experience. "During my time at university, I have held many different roles including: - Student representative: My role as a student representative has been helped me understand and relate with the issues faced by students within my cohort and working with staff and students to find solutions, helping to create a positive and inclusive academic environment. - Faculty representative: As a faculty representative, I have gained a great understanding of similar concerns and issues faced by peers from different courses within my school, and this has helped me collaborate with other student and faculty reps to find a solution for our prevalent issues, which will prove to be an essential skill when working collaboratively with sabbatical officers and council members as Chair of Council. My role as faculty representative has improved my leadership skills which I believe is an essential skill for leading the Union’s Council. As faculty representative, I have also been a part of the FoMLSS Faculty Board and University Senate. These forums have greatly improved my understanding of organisational and administrative processes in place at the University, and have also provided with me with an insight on how important decision-making forums are chaired and led. - Student ambassador: Being a student ambassador has immensely helped me with my communication skills, as I regularly do a number of different tasks such as presentations to prospective students and/or applicants, parents, etc. - Business Support Assistant: Working as Business Support Assistant for the Faculty of Management, Law, and Social Sciences, I have gained great organisational understanding, as it has provided me with insight into the organisational and administrative aspects of the university, which I believe will prove to be extremely valuable in aiding strategic planning and decision making for the Student’s Union Council. These roles have also helped me grow my network, both within the student and staff community. As chair of council, this will prove to be a valuable asset as I will be able to build on existing relationships and connect and collaborate better with staff and students. " As Chair of Council, I have several different ideas that I will try my best to help implement. I will prioritise open communication and collaboration, ensuring all council members and students have the opportunity to voice their opinions. I believe that streamlined and smooth Council sessions while constantly seeking input from members is crucial to be able to reach and implement solutions. As chair of UBU Council, transparency in decision-making and a commitment to amplifying student voices would be fundamental aspects of my leadership approach. I aim to work with the sabbatical team to foster an environment of active participation for students, where they feel comfortable and confident to share their opinions and ideas with the Union, possibly through surveys, online forms, discussion panels etc. Working with council members and sabbatical officers to ensure smooth and streamlined planning of events will also be an area of focus for me. I also plan on working with the sabbatical officers to foster new and unique extracurricular activities through new societies, clubs, events etc., in order to cater to students with different interests and preferences and maximise student involvement with the UBU. Recognition Awards and prizes for society executives and student representatives is also something I plan on working on alongside the sabbatical team, in order to encourage and motivate students to get involved in volunteering roles. As chair of council, I look forward to working with council members and the sabbatical team in taking a holistic approach to enrich student experience by promoting community engagement and student involvement in the UBU.

A user-friendly interface will enhance accessibility and engagement, fostering a sense of community within the university. As someone actively engaged in the IT department and studying computing, I see this initiative not only as an enhancement to the student experience but also as an opportunity for practical application in my final year project, contributing to the technological advancement of our university community. I want the student body's ethics and politics represented on campus; we are all developing adults with occupations who should be able to represent these beliefs in our occupational space i.e. campus I am an officer of Bradford Friends of Palestine and a member of the Socialist Worker Party, so I have been gaining experience chairing meetings and organising actions and events. I am also student representative for first year Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology students so I have experience in making students' voices heard. I would like to make campus more convenient wherever possible - better options for food, easier and safer access to classes, and I would like the student body as a collective to be more connected across years and faculties and interests (societies).

With the Students being the main stakeholder of the university in which they attend, it is therefore essential for their voice to be primarily heard in order to tailor their university experience to their standards. This is a crucial responsibility and therefore my main focus of being a Council-Lay Member. The executives of the Student Union should always represent a collective judgement of the students of all backgrounds, not just a secluded aim to what they believe in itself and a certain group of individuals. Therefore, being the voice of the voiceless is my prime motto for my manifesto Being a current member of the ISOC community, taking note of the situations which befall Muslims whilst using the Carlton prayer building. This is a continuing role which has seen me tackle various challenges voluntarily which include the cleanliness of the building in addition to the commitment to ensure Muslims have a preferably peaceful, calm and downright simple experience of praying retrospective of any conflicting factors Being the "Voice of the Voiceless" is itself enough to bring change to the UBU's student experience. I aim to collect members concerns from wherever I may be at the campus to present to the council to hopefully and to simply navigate our way around issues that befall the students in the university. No issue is either too big or too small or too naive for judgement to be brought into the meeting and that is a firm promise I am committed to deliver during my studies. University should be worth the fees paying and the students should get a voice regardless of the contexts of the external society. Student's beliefs from the outside world should not be forcefully changed due to pressure from the university, and the university should be a second home to students, not a place of judgement and coercion. Finally, the inclusion of activities to entertain the students should be aimed at the collective community of the UBU and not just a sector that would initially waste time and cause a feeling of boredom and emptiness to run rampant across the university

During my former job at Dangote Group of Companies as an IT personnel, I volunteered to head a product design project. Throughout the project, I showed that I could lead by example, work well in a team, inspire others, and accomplish group objectives.
