Take a Hike - Pendle Hill - 1 November

If you're looking to get into the countryside, meet new people, and do something worthwhile, then join the Take a Hike Pendle Hill Walk.

Take a Hike is a hiking group for students and young adults with and without disabilities. There will be a few walks throughout the year, with a summer trip to the Isle of Man (funding permitting), but if you want to come on the trip, you have to come on the training hikes and get to know the team.

Our second hike of the year is to Pendle Hill (aka the scariest place in the UK), famous for witches and spooky goings on, but don't worry, Halloween will be finished by then so they'll probably be tired.

See how beautiful Pendle Hill is by watching the video HERE!

This isn't just a walk; it's an experience, and over the years some amazing friendships and moments have been shared, and you can be part of the Take a Hike family.

To get an idea of the hikes, please see our YouTube Playlist HERE!

Tickets are only £8, and we're taking a bus there and back direct from the University, so grab your ticket now by clicking HERE!

BHM Lecture - Nationalist Emergency: Racial Outsiders, Class Struggle and Resistance - Today

As national flags spring up across the country and nationalism engulfs the political terrain, where can we look for hope?

This Black History Month lecture and discussion, organised by our friends at the Race Equality Network, will look back to lessons learned by the Italians fighting fascism in the 1930s, and the young people of English towns who fought back against street racism in the 1980s and 2000s.

But it will also look forward to consider electoral alternatives, urban multicultures, and grassroots protest, all of which offer a signal as to how our history might be remade, for the better.

Featuring Dr. Adam Elliott-Cooper, author of *Black Resistance to British Policing* and co-author of *Empire’s Endgame*, and Lecturer in Social and Public Policy at Queen Mary University of London.

Date: Monday 20th October
Time: 6:30pm – 8pm
Location: Common Space, 1-3 John St, Bradford BD1 3JT
