A carer is someone who, without payment, provides help and support to a friend, neighbour or relative who could not manage otherwise because of frailty, illness or disability. They may even be juggling paid work with caring responsibilities at home. Carers have a tough job – it can mean unrelenting pressure, little chance to relax and a lot of worry. The system is complicated, and the issue is hidden.
Carers’ Resource provides support for unpaid carers, no matter what their age, race, religion or needs. We provide information, advice and support to carers, to the people they care for and to professionals who work with them. We are an independent, award-winning Yorkshire charity which is open to everyone and offers emotional and practical help to enable them to cope.
As the charity has grown and developed, we have taken on other roles, too. For example, we help people after they return home from hospital, and provide assistance in people’s own homes through our dedicated Care@ service.
We specialise in helping carers and vulnerable people.
We believe carers and vulnerable people alike need care themselves.

Carers’ Resource delivers a wide range of groups to encourage carers to have time with other carers; in turn giving them time for themselves.
Groups could be anything from arts and crafts to simply having a coffee, cake and a chat.
Volunteer group hosts are relied upon to help ensure the smooth delivery of these groups.
