An administrative restructure at the University of Bradford,  could see 30 or more staff made redundant and 20% of the current workforce downgraded. These include vital posts in student admin that ensure the efficiency and quality of the student experience at the University of Bradford.

Patrick Dennehy, Bradford University Unison Branch Secretary, said: 

 “The University talks about improving the student experience and wanting impressive growth in student numbers, yet the reality on the ground is that they are cutting staff numbers and cutting services. Those two things are incompatible."

It is very simple. A reduction in student admin staff will mean that it will be harder for students to get help and assitance with regards to their basic needs on their courses.

This petition calls on the University of Bradford Student Union to pull into force all its resources to defend the posts of those in student administration against any possible job cuts by the University management. It calls for the University of Bradford to ensure the continuity of jobs and pay grades of all staff. The University also has been a historic public defender of equality and accesss to education. They should publically stand up against the neo-liberalization of our education, the hikes in tution fees, against cuts and the government moves to replace the Higher Education Council with the Office for Students.

Students across the country have defended jobs in their university's through occupations, rent strikes, and other means. The student union should lauch a poster campaign, events and regular stalls to defend our educational services which are provided by said administration staff.
