We have an exciting opportunity for a volunteer to support our health visiting teams by delivering essential information on the introduction of solid foods, the role will be based within one of our community baby clinics. As a weaning information volunteer you will provide research and evidence based information to parents on the introduction of solid foods from 6 months of age. You will have excellent communication skills enabling you to speak and listen to parents. You will be able to signpost parents to further trusted sources of information, discuss oral health in relation to starting solid foods and promote healthy choices.

Please note that if your application is successful this role is only available in BD4 on Tuesday afternoons.

Before applying, we ask that volunteers consider their availability within the next few months- our opportunities are not short-term and recruitment checks can take around 2-3 months to complete.

These recruitment checks include DBS check, references, right to work and online training. You will also need attend a face-to-face Welcome Workshop and an Infection Prevention session.

Chat with parents who are wanting information on introducing solid foods to their babies Provide research and evidence-based information on starting solid foods Signpost and refer to other trusted sources eg websites and parent groups Support staff to provide evidence-based generic oral health information in relation to introducing solid foods and promote healthy choices Using a portable device (laptop or tablet) supplied by BDCFT show relevant and trusted information videos related to introducing solid foods Set up / tidy away resources at the beginning and end of the session
