#LitterHeroes 

A #LitterHero is someone who loves where they live and who wants to make a difference to the environment on their doorstep, by volunteering their time to pick up litter, improve and protect local spaces, protect local wildlife, and by encouraging others to reduce waste and live more sustainably.   

Our vision at Keep Britain Tidy is to have a clean and healthy environment, rich in wildlife and valued by people who ‘love where they live’. Since 2018, the #LitterHeroes programme has been supporting the most dedicated litter picking volunteers across England. There are now over 2,000 registered #LitterHeroes.But we are looking for more people with a passion for making a difference, whether you are already an experienced litter picker or are hoping to give it a go for the first time. 

What do #LitterHeroes do? 

  • Litter pick local streets, green spaces and/or beaches 

  • Log your litter picks on our Collect & Count tool to help identify the scale of the litter problem and the collective impact of volunteers 

  • Support Keep Britain Tidy’s aims and campaigns by spreading the word and taking action 

  • Complete our annual volunteer survey
