Are you interested in supporting the health visiting teams in the children’s 2 year development review clinics? You’ll need excellent communication skills to chat with parents / carers and be able to engage with children in simple play activities. 

As a development review clinic volunteer you’ll help the team setup up the clinic at the start of the session, meet and greet families as they arrive, helping them navigate their way through the session and support the team with weighing and measuring young children. This roles offers volunteers the opportunity to gain experience working with families and young children.  

If your application is successful, this Volunteer role is available only at the locations and days below:

Keighley - Friday

Ilkley - alternate Tuesdays

Wrose - on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (once a month only for the Wednesday clinic)

Before applying, we ask that volunteers consider their availability within the next few months- our opportunities are not short-term and recruitment checks can take around 2-3 months to complete.

These recruitment checks include DBS check, references, right to work and online training. You will also need attend a face-to-face Welcome Workshop, Breakaway training and an Infection Prevention session.

Key responsibilities

Support with setting up the clinic room with the required equipment and resources, regular cleaning of equipment throughout the session and tidying away at the end Meet and greet families on arrival to clinic, this may involve greeting families in reception and showing them to the clinic room Explain to families what will be happening and help them to navigate around the session Assist with completing growth measurements (height and weight) Playing and interacting with children and their parents / carers Following training, offer basic health promotion messages and sharing information regarding local groups and activities with support from the health professional Collect feedback from users of the service
