The University of Bradford Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) lab helps to engage and enrich young people in local schools. Each year thousands of young people in the community experience a STEM at Bradford workshop. Join the team in developing and delivering new lessons.
The First Lego League (FLL) regional competition engages children aged 9 to 16 in engineering and programming robots made out of Lego. With over 250 young people attending the tournament and needing support in the build up this opportunity is very hand on but rewarding!
British Sign Language (BSL) is a form of sign language that involves the use of hand movements, gestures, body language and facial expressions to communicate. It is predominantly used by people who are either D/deaf or have a hearing impairment. Learn how to communicate using BSL from our qualified instructor and use your new skill to help those in the community.
Whether you would like to teach a language you know or learn from someone else the UBU Language Classes have something for everyone! This on campus opportunity is great for developing communication skills.
The UBU Volunteering Centre works with over 350 charities and organisations all looking for volunteers to help out. Sign up as a volunteer and see some of the opportunities available.
The Impact Bradford programme gives students the opportunity to share skills they already have with young people in the local area. With Clubs In the Community and Activity groups in Action there is a workshop for everyone to support in. Working with mostly schools and youth groups the Impact Bradford is being backed by Bradford council.
The Haworth RDA was founded in 2001 and is designed to allow people who are wheelchair bound or otherwise disabled to ride a horse and volunteer in the stables.

At the National Science and Media Museum, in the heart of Bradford, we explore the science and culture of image and sound technologies and their impact on our lives.
We aim to inspire the scientists and engineers of the future to see more, hear more, think more and do more.
Our galleries and exhibition spaces help us illuminate world-famous collections in photography, film and television. Our team of Explainers create learning activities that fuel the imagination and get under the skin of our collections and exhibitions. And our three cinema screens—including an IMAX theatre—allow us to showcase the magic of moving images from around the world in Bradford, the first UNESCO City of Film.
There are different ways to get involved with our 70+ student led groups here at UBU. You can be elected as an executive or start your own group group. Being an executive develops loads of skills that employers are looking for and give back to your fellow students. More information here!
