Lead UBU Fulltime
You can lead the Union in a full-time capacity as one of our four sabbatical officers.
The sabbatical officers take a year out from their studies (or immediately after their final year) and are paid as full-time employees of the Union! Substantial high-quality training is provided over the summer break. Starting in the final week of June 2021, and finishing in July 2022 you will be employed for one year as our most senior student leaders.

Student Affairs Officer
The Sabbatical Officer for Governance and Communication, responsible for representing the interests of the student body in communication with the University. The lead Sabbatical representative for student welfare and safety; for UBU Council and General Meetings. Works with UBU staff on communication with the membership and University. Ensures UBU has sound Governance.
Education Officer
The Sabbatical Officer for Educational Representation, responsible for representing the interests of the student body in all academic matters. The lead Sabbatical for Academic Assembly, which includes Student Reps and Faculty Reps. Works with UBU staff to support election and training of Student Reps and Faculty Reps.
Community & Activities Officer
The Sabbatical Officer for community and societies representation, representing the interests of the student body in matters pertaining to societies and community involvement, including volunteering. The lead Sabbatical for Societies Assembly, community volunteers and Choices 4 All. Works with UBU staff on community issues, maintaining good links with non-student residents in the community and local councillors. Works to improve student integration in local neighbourhoods.
Sports & Wellbeing Officer
The Sabbatical Officer for sports and wellbeing, representing the interests of the student body in all sports and wellbeing. The lead Sabbatical for Sports Assembly. The lead Sabbatical responsible for representing the interests of the student body in regards to ensuring inclusivity and diversity at the University.
