The UBU officer team would like to express our condolences and solidarity to the family of George Floyd who sadly lost his life last week. Our Union has a proud history of campaigning against racism and we are resolute and committed to ensure that this continues. We also want to express our solidarity with black people in America, the UK, and the rest of the world, who continue to face discrimination and violence. We all must take responsibility and do everything we can to address this and remove racism from our community. We are determined as a team and a Union to work with the University, the local community, and the National Union of Students to ensure that we honour the memories of victims of racism in our society by working to make our communities safer.
For any students experiencing any forms of racism we are here to help you. The Unions Officer team and Advice Centre are on hand to provide support - www.bradfordunisu.co.uk/gethelp. For those whose mental health is impacted by racism we recommend that students access the University counselling services - https://www.bradford.ac.uk/counselling/
